As more and more coastal communities in the Coral Triangle experience the impacts of climate change, the need for a clear, community-led climate change adaptation strategy becomes more pressing.

Thus, this Guide to Vulnerability Assessment and Local Early Action Planning (LEAP Guide) was developed as a companion document to assist local governments and communities in identifying strategic and practical actions to address the impacts of climate change.

This guide presents step-by-step strategies that coastal communities in the countries within the Coral Triangle can use to tackle climate change adaptation. Concrete examples of how countries are progressing are also presented through country-specific “community experience” reports.

To illustrate these strategies more clearly, useful tables and colorful infographics accompany the reports.

The LEAP Guide is not intended to be a stand-alone document but complements other national, regional and international frameworks, strategies and plans.

The guide should inspire users on the realities, challenges, successes and future of coastal communities, local, and national governments of the region.
