Due to a growing wave of proposals, organizers of the “Our Oceans Challenge” (OOC) have extended the submission deadline to 1 August 2014, giving entrepreneurs more time to submit solutions.

Our Oceans Challenge provides an online platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, students, scientist, engineers, producers, consumers and every other creative mind to co-create sustainable business potentials using our oceans.

Selecting the high potential output of this platform, OOC organized an event with the purpose to connect ideas, organizations, and funding. The setup of OOC is based on open-source collective intelligence resulting in solutions for topics proposed by platform moderators.

The OOC is generating a groundswell of ideas for solving key issues affecting responsible ocean industry operations. A growing number of ocean entrepreneurs from across the globe are submitting business concepts, and continue to do so well past the deadline.

The deadline extension will accommodate the growing number of submissions and give solution-providers worldwide a better chance to participate in the competition.

Solution concepts must be submitted online by August 1st at www.ouroceanschallenge.org

After the 1 August 2014 close of the first Call to Action phase, the most promising concepts will be matched to the OOC partner network and will receive customized business development support.

Even if they don’t have a solution to propose, stakeholders and experts are invited to join the online discussions on the challenge themes or provide expert feedback on specific proposals.
