Learning

(Workshop: 3-6 March 2015) The Secretariat of the Pacific Community’s regional workshop on the “Future of Coastal/Inshore Fisheries Management” includes a half-day session for the outcomes from the workshop to be presented and discussed on Friday 6 March to the ninth Heads of Fisheries Meeting (HoF9), to be held in Noumea at the SPC Conference Centre from 3 to 6 March 2015.

This is a technical workshop bringing together practitioners and supporters of inshore fisheries management at regional, national, and community levels. The workshop intends to build on the significant high-level coastal/inshore fisheries commitment including the Apia Policy (2008-2013), the Joint FFA/SPC Future of Fisheries Report, IUCN call for action, FAME Strategic Plan, the outcomes from the SIDS Conference and the recent Melanesian Spearhead Group Roadmap.

The workshop focuses on the role of communities in coastal/inshore fisheries management and how that and efforts at all levels can support greater impact at scale to achieve national systems of resource management for future food security and livelihoods.
