Painting Exhibition of ‘In Tropical Seas’

(ACTIVITY: 18-24 June 2014) A painting exhibition of ‘In Tropical Seas’ by Australian marine biologist Jay Maclean is ongoing at Level 2 of The Podium, ADB Avenue, Mandaluyong, Philippines, from 18-24 June 2014.

Jay Maclean is an Australian marine biologist and artist living in the Philippines for 34 years. He has almost 40 years of experience in diving in tropical seas, and as a published writer and editor. He has worked as Head of the Information Program, and later acting Director General, at International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM), now known as the WorldFish Center. He began painting aquatic scenes in 1987 and has had four solo exhibitions in the Philippines. He is an honorary member of the Angono Artists’ Association. His paintings have been bought by collectors in Australia, Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Philippines, and the U.S.A. Currently, he is a consultant to the Asian Development Bank.

The event, organized in conjunction with World Coral Triangle Day (9 June) and the Philippines’ Environment Month (June), is being held in partnership with the National Coral Triangle Initiative Coordinating Committee (NCCC) and the Australian Embassy to help raise awareness on the importance of marine conservation.
